10 things to get to know me

Since this is a relatively new blog, I thought it would be great to give you an insight into what I am about and what makes me happy, so here are 10 things that make me happy to get to know more about me. Enjoy 😊

  1. My degree
    • This must be the first thing on my list of things that make me happy. Not only is it on my list because it’s a huge life goal I was able to accomplish, but it is also a degree that I enjoyed studying. I majored in marketing and minored in communication and I loved (most) my classes and learned things that I will carry with me in everyday life. Even in this blog: branding, communication, and understanding the audience you aspire to engage with are part of the things I learned in my four years. If nothing else, it reminds me that I had the determination, patience, and resilience to endure four long years, so I can apply those skills to anything.
  2. Travel
    • This is a pretty basic thing to list, but who doesn’t like to see new places and experience different cultures? Not only do I enjoy getting to the actual destination, I have always loved flying. I even thought about being a flight attendant because I enjoyed it so much, but that obviously was not my career of choice in the end. However, I know what I like, and I know it is traveling whenever possible. When I turned 15, as a Latina of course, I was given the choice between a quinceañera and a trip wherever I wanted. It was a no brainer for me, I chose a trip to Europe. Yes, my parents had the ability to do that for me and it is a privilege, but it was an option for me, and I never ever looked back on that decision.
  3. Organizing/cleaning
    • The aesthetic, the satisfaction of before and after pictures, I mean what is there not to love about cleaning and organizing. I love watching YouTube mom’s do before and after pictures, videos, and the whole thing in between. I love watching those power washing videos and grout cleaning videos. All the cleaning and organizing all the time. Yes, this might be a little tied into a small OCD problem I might have, but it’s fine.
  4. Jewelry
    • Rings, earrings, bracelets, the more the better. My family can attest to this as one thing that has made me happy since I was a little kid. I remember my mom would call me a gypsy sometimes because I would wear countless bracelets and rings all the time. I have a great jewelry collection (in my eyes) and I am always shopping for more to add to it. For my 21st birthday I bought myself a nice little gold ring while shopping in Guadalajara, it was the best birthday present I think I ever bought myself.
  5. Anything about empowering women
    • Books, Ted Talks, following influential women on social media, you name it I probably support it. I think supporting women getting educated, being lifted to be independent, empowering women to achieve financial freedom is such an essential part of womanhood. It is about lifting everyone we can up, telling women they look beautiful and not just hating on those we don’t like or agree with. For me, a big part of this is respecting what a woman decides to spend her life doing. Whether they want to start a family, build a career, or both. Being supportive and uplifting and not tearing someone down because it is not the life you chose.
  6. Chrissy Teigen
    • On the topic of lifting women up. Here is one of my favorite women on social media. Regardless of how you may feel about her controversial statements and posts, she keeps it real all the time. I respect that in her so much. She is a badass mom and isn’t scared to show herself bathing with her two children (that shouldn’t be a strange thing). She loves her family, she is a great cook, she is an entrepreneur, and she’s freaking gorgeous. Totally my celebrity crush, love her!
  7. My room
    1. This one might seem a little random, but considering I still live at home, my room is my happy place. I love that it is the one space I do what I want to, I get to showcase the things I want to see every morning and before I go to bed at night. I have bookshelf with my favorite books, pictures, and things I use every day. I have a very handy, and my personal favorite, Alexa Echo. I have a magnetic board with more pictures and magnets and stickers that make me smile. I can make it look, feel, even smell however I desire, and yes eventually when I get my own place, I want to expand this from my room to my home. I want to make sure my home is a place that I want to go home to and welcome others in, but for now I bask in my own quiet little space.
  8. Vision Boards/ Pinterest Boards
    • I made my first vision board as a sophomore in high school, it was an assignment. I worked very hard on it and liked it enough to hang above my bed for about six months. Believe it or not most things on that vision board happened for me, not only because I envisioned them every day for six months, but because I worked at those things even after the six months because it was instilled in me that I wanted those things. I went to college and got a degree, I became a better public speaker, and I grew to know myself better. As an adult now, I do that with Pinterest boards. I envision whatever it is I want things to look like or how I want to live my life and I make a board for it. I think knowing what you want is half the battle of getting what you want. If you don’t know what you want to attract how can you ever get it?
  9. Making plans/using planners
    • This makes me happy because it ties in a little to the organizing junkie that I am. I like to know what the week entails for me; I do not enjoy being caught off guard for things. I missed a credit card payment once, and you bet the next day I wrote the due date on my planner for the rest of the year. I heard an important tip that said do not rely on your brain for important things, write them down instead. This was especially helpful in school, you bet I never missed studying for a quiz or exam, this girl was prepared. I feel life has enough complicated things out of your control, so control the things you can. Plan as much as you can!
  10. 3 things of gratitude
    • My boyfriend and I have made a pact to be grateful for at least three things each day. At night, as we prepare for bed, we talk about our days and list our three things of gratitude. This is one of my favorite things because even on our toughest days, we can go through and pick out three positive things about that day. It is a habit we created and try to upkeep every day. It helps us go to sleep on a positive note, and we are encouraged to go through the day looking for positivity. I recommend this for any one with anxiety or depression. It is a simple hack to lift your mood right before you rest for the next day.

Thank you all for taking interest in the blog and thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read these things about me. I hope this gives you more insight to me, and I would love to know more about you too. If you can relate to anything or love any of the things listed, please let me know.
